Mountain Hikes
The best way to experience Norwegian nature
Try our beginner-friendly guided Mountain Hikes – the perfect introduction to «Norwegian friluftsliv».
The Mountains Are Closer Than You Think
The mountains around Lillehammer may not be the tallest or the most dramatic – but they are something just as valuable: accessible, peaceful, and full of character. On our guided mountain hikes around Sjusjøen, Nordseter, and Hafjell, we take you into a landscape that has been shaped by centuries of alpine summer farming, and is still very much alive today.
Follow ancient paths through fir forest and open wetland, past summer farms that have dotted these highlands for generations. Up above the treeline, the landscape opens up – wide, quiet, and unhurried – with sweeping views stretching all the way to Rondane and Jotunheimen on a clear day. Sheep and cows still graze these hills each summer, just as they have for centuries.
Our mountain hikes are beginner-friendly and designed to be enjoyed at a relaxed pace in small groups. There's no race to the top – but a lot of time to breathe, look around, take pictures, and experience Norwegian friluftsliv the way it's meant to be.
