Quiet forest paths, whooshing waterfalls and the best views over the city – our guides love sharing their favorite spots & paths with you. Close to the city, yet a world away from it.

We move at a gentle pace, take our time with the views, and leave plenty of room for those small, unexpected moments that make a walk in nature so rewarding. A break with snacks and drinks is always part of the plan, because the best hikes never feel rushed.

All of our Escape the City Hikes start close to Lillehammer and are easily accessible by public transport, making them easy to fit into your stay – no car or long transfers needed.

Important information!

Norwegian weather can be unpredictable & our trails wet and muddy. To stay comfortable and enjoy this activity to the fullest, we recommend dressing in layers that can be adjusted as needed, to wear hiking boots & to bring a waterproof jacket.

Hikes may be cancelled or rescheduled due to weather conditions.

  • We offer our Escape the City Hikes in different locations around Lillehammer. All of our hikes are accessible by public transport and adjusted to the bus schedule.

  • The hike lasts for about 2.5 to 3 hours.

  • The groups are small, with a maximum of 10 participants per guide.

    To ensure the best experience, each hike requires a minimum of 2 participants.

  • Adults and children from 10 years old, perfect for families, couples, a group of friends, or solo travellers.

    Families with younger children can book a private hike. Contact us for more information.

Locations & how to get there

We offer our Escape the City hikes in different locations around Lillehammer and are constantly creating new routes for you. All starting points are easily accessible by public transport & we recommend taking the bus because parking can be limited.


Mesnaelva

The meeting point is in front of Birkebeineren Hotel in Lillehammer. Start & length of the hike are adjusted to the bus schedule.

 

By Bus

From Lillehammer skysstasjon (train station) the bus leaves every 15 minutes. It’s a 5 minute bus drive and a 10 minute walk from the bus stop to the meeting point.

By Foot

It’s a 20 minute walk from the train station to the meeting point.
